Learn about the fascinating history of Byblos and visit the incredible Jeita Grotto on this excursion departing from Beirut.
- Byblos Port Tour
After being picked up from your hotel in Beirut, you will first go to Byblos, one of the oldest cities in the world. It dates back to 7000 BCE. Today, this dynamic and modern town attracts more and more people who come to see its old port by day and by night. Incidentally, this was the place from which the Phoenicians exported cedar wood from Lebanon to Ancient Egypt, making Byblos the business hub of Mesopotamia. Your guide will tell you all about the history of the city and its monuments, such as the Byblos Castle, which was built by the crusaders in the twelfth century.
- Lunch & Tour of the Jeita Grotto
You will then take a pleasant break for lunch in a local restaurant where you can sample delicious mezze (an assortment of small Lebanese dishes) and a glass of Arak (a traditional beverage).
The day will continue with a visit to the magnificent Jeita Grotto. Nominated as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the grotto has an underground section that you can visit by boat and an upper section that you can visit on foot with your guide.
You will then be driven back to Beirut after a fabulous day.
