Discover the treasures of Cairo during a day out to the Museum of Civilization, Saladin Citadel and the Khân al-Khalili Souk in the company of a professional guide!
You'll leave your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, and set off for a day exploring the city of Cairo.
You'll visit the new National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), located in El Fustat, in the ancient part of Cairo. Officially inaugurated in April 2021, this huge museum will plunge you into the history of this unique civilisation, one of the oldest in the world, thanks to 50,000 exhibits gathered from various Egyptian museums. 22 mummies of ancient Egyptian rulers were taken here from the Cairo Museum.
You'll then visit the Islamic fort: Saladin's citadel. This UNESCO-classified site is almost 850 years old and sits on the Mokattam hills. You'll continue your tour of Old Cairo by walking through the old alleys of the Khân El-Khalili souk, one of the oldest markets in the Middle East. Time to stock up on antiques or handicrafts!
You'll enjoy a lunch break at a local restaurant, recommended by your guide, and then visit Old Cairo's must-see sites such as the Hanging Church, Church of St. Barbara & Church of Abu Serga.
After a day of exploring Cairo you'll be driven back to your accommodation.
