Discover the tropical beach of Preveli on a day trip from Heraklion!
You'll be picked up directly at your hotel in Heraklion or nearby and board a comfortable, air-conditioned bus.
You'll take the road to southern Crete through the impressive scenery of the Kourtaliotiko Gorge.
Preveli beach is one of Crete's most popular beaches, home to many hippies in the 1960s and 1970s. It's nicknamed "tropical beach" thanks to the palm grove that grows all along the beach.
You'll arrive near the beach, at the top of a cliff, from where you'll enjoy a spectacular view of the gorges, the river and the Libyan Sea. You'll then take a path with around 300 steps down to the beach below.
On-site, you'll have around 4 hours of free time to relax on the sand, swim in the turquoise waters or explore the palm grove alongside the river. You can also walk along the Great River (Megalos Potamos), which forms a small lake before flowing into the sea.
Late afternoon, you'll walk back up to the parking lot where the bus will be waiting for you for the return journey. A final stop will be made at Skaleta before reaching Heraklion.
