Explore the volcanic island of Bartolomé, which was formed by a series of volcanic explosions and eruptions, and try out snorkelling at Sullivan Bay during your stay in the Galápagos Islands!
Leave from the port of Puerto Ayora on a bus to the Canal de Itabaca north of Santa Cruz Island. Taking the island's tourist route for 45 minutes, you'll cross five climate zones along the way.
When you arrive at the Canal, you'll board a boat that will take you to Bartolomé Island. Breakfast will be served during this 2-hour crossing. Your journey will take you past the Seymour and Daphne Major islands, part of the Galápagos archipelago. You might be lucky enough to see dolphins swimming alongside the boat.
On arrival on Bartolomé Island, you'll begin with a hike up to the top of the volcano where you can enjoy panoramic views of all the Galápagos Islands. Head back to your boat for a trip to Pïnnacle Rock, a volcanic rock that welcomes thousands of tourists every year. Observe the colonies of penguins, sea lions, and Pacific turtles that come close to the shore.
Finally, you'll head to Sullivan Bay beach, opposite Pinnacle Rock, to get ready to go snorkelling. The beach is unique in that it is covered in solidified lava, so you'll be starting this last activity in deep, easily accessible waters and will be able to get up close and personal with the marine animals. Afterwards, it’ll be time to head back to the Canal de Itabaca for the trip back to Puerto Ayora.
A packed lunch will be provided at lunchtime. Savour a typical Ecuadorian dish. You'll be driven back to the port of Puerto Ayora at the end of your tour.
