During a whole day, and accompanied by a guide, discover all the best cultural and historic monuments Istanbul has to offer!
Departing from your hotel, your guide will take you to the Hagia Sofia Basilica. Once a church and now a Mosque, Hagia Sophia is a major architectural symbol of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires in Istanbul. On the way to the Blue Mosque we will pass the German Fountain, famous for its eight marble columns.
We will continue the tour on foot to the Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultanahmet Mosque. Its 6 minarets make this mosque a cultural site which is unique in the world We will then arrive at the Hippodrome. Built in the Roman era, the Hippodrome is famous for its Egyptian Obelisk, Serpentine Column, and the Constantine Obelisk.
Finally, before a well deserved lunch break, the tour stops at Istanbul's Grand Bazaar*, one of the largest markets in the world. With hundreds of stalls selling all kinds products, you will experience the authentic atmosphere at the heart of this vibrant city!
After lunch the tour heads to Topkapi Palace*. Accompanied by your expert guide, we visit the Imperial Gate, Audience Chamber, Imperial Council, Palace kitchens, Royal Stables, the Tower of Justice and the Imperial Treasury. During the tour your guide will discuss the role played by the Topkapi Palace in the history of Turkey.
* The Hagia Sofia Basilica is closed on Mondays and replaced with the Underground Cistern.
*The Imperial Harem rooms are not included in the Topkapi Palace tour.
*Istanbul's Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays. For this reason the tour will visit the Spice Bazaar.
