Access the ramparts of Saint-Louis and admire the salt marshes in the heart of the Camargue region!

The fortified city of Aigues-Mortes was founded at the end of the 13th century by Saint-Louis in order to give the French Kingdom a Mediterranean Port.

The keep, ramparts and towers with cross-ribbed vaults have been remarkably preserved. The site is both an exceptional piece of military construction of the time as well as a symbol of Medieval gothic architecture. From the terrace of the Constance Tower, take advantage of a panoramic view on the Camargue and the salty marshes.

This visit will be a chance to immerse yourself in the world of medieval crusades and retrace events that have marked the city. A video projection will be available during the tour.

  • Availability: Every day (except in exceptional cases)
  • Hours: 10am to 7pm May 2 to August 31 
    September 1 to April 30: 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5:30pm (given as an indication, please visit the monument's website to check opening times)
  • IMPORTANT: please make sure you select the type of ticket corresponding to the date of your visit: LOW or HIGH season. Please refer to the calendar above
    • LOW SEASON: October 1 to June 30
    • HIGH SEASON: July 1 to September 30
  • Duration: self-guided tour (approx. 1h30)
     
  • You are asked to select a tentative date when booking. Please note, however, that you will be able to take the tour on the date of your choice, within the limit of the season selected when you booked (and the expiry date: 26/06/28)
  • Last admission 45min before closing
  • The information booklet is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch, and will be given to you at the entrance
  • The site is accessible to people with reduced mobility
  • .Participants under 18 and European Union residents under 26, disabled people (and their carers), jobseekers, Carte Culture - Carte ICOM and Pass Education holders may enter free of charge on presentation of proof
    PLEASE NOTE: all beneficiaries of free admission must go through the ticket office to check their credentials
  • Please note that all tickets issued are non-cancellable, non-changeable and non-refundable
  • Free admission on the first Sunday of every month from November to March only
