Take part in an ikebana workshop and learn traditional Japanese flower arranging!
Ikebana, AKA the art of bringing flowers to life, is a type of flower arranging practised by Buddhist monks and Japanese nobility since the 8th century. It results in stunning creations, thanks to a precise arrangement and a very meticulous choice of flowers, which highlight the type of flower, the vase and the foliage chosen for the arrangement.
In this small-group class, you'll learn about the art of ikebana and be able to create a bouquet.
You'll first learn about the history and customs associated with the practice of ikebana in Japan. Afterwards, the teacher will show you the techniques and rules of ikebana, and give you a floral arrangement demonstration.
After learning about the rules and techniques, your teacher will help you create your own floral arrangement. You'll be able to choose from different vases and types of seasonal flowers and foliage (daffodils, irises, chrysanthemums, bamboo, etc).
At the end of this workshop, you'll be able to take your stunning floral arrangement away with you.
